We're Making Exciting Changes to the IMLS Committee Appointment Process

We're making changes to the way IMLS members are appointed to our New Technology and Rules committees that we believe will be more sustainable for everyone involved and bring us in line with other MLS organizations throughout the country.
Right now, committee members serve by appointment. Starting in 2022, members will have to apply for a position. We're also making several other adjustments:
We will no longer automatically re-appoint committee members. Instead, all members who would like to continue their service must reapply.
- IMLS will now adhere to NAR's practice of "one member, one appointment." We understand that our market is busier than ever and want to reduce the risk of burnout for our volunteers. Occasionally, board members who have specialized experience may be asked to also serve on a committee, but that will be the exception rather than the rule.
We will begin accepting applications for the 2022 committees in October. We will send out reminders before that time.
In November, the IMLS Nominating Committee will review applications, appoint new members, and we will announce the composition of the 2022 committees.
IMLS could not be a success without the dedication of our members, and we hope these changes will make the experience of serving smoother and more rewarding. The fresh ideas and unique perspectives of our members have a role in shaping the future of this organization, and we encourage anyone who has the interest and time to apply.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we make this transition. Your membership and participation is much appreciated. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
